  • About non-sellable variations

If you’re subscribed to Square for Retail Plus, you can mark any item variations – such as components or ingredients of a bundle – as non-sellable. These items that are not sold directly to customers won’t appear online or at checkout on your Point of Sale. For example, you can track inventory of packing materials for delivery, but the packing materials aren’t sold separately to your customers.

    Before you begin

    Set up non-sellable variations

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Items & services (or Items & menus or Items & inventory) > Items > Item library.

    2. Select an item to open the Edit Item view.

    3. Scroll down to Variations, then click Edit variation details.

    4. Add the variation name, vendor name or unit cost under Manage Inventory.

    5. Under Sales Information, toggle off This can be purchased.

    6. Click Done. The variation will appear as ‘This variation is non-sellable’ in grey font.

    7. Click Save to return to your Item Library.
