Set up Facebook and Instagram food ordering for your website

    You can sell your menu items on social networks like Facebook and Instagram by adding ‘Order Food’ buttons to your profiles. These buttons will direct followers back to your website, making ordering online possible from these social networks.

    Before you begin

    • You can set up Facebook and Instagram food ordering from Square Dashboard.

    • Before setting up Facebook and Instagram food ordering, you need to set up your website.

    • Make sure you have a Facebook Business page and/or an Instagram Professional account created before connecting with Facebook. You can convert your personal account to a business account on Facebook and Instagram. You also need to review and follow the Facebook commerce policies and guidelines.

    Step 1: Connect Square to Facebook

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Online > Websites (or Online store).

    2. Click Sales Channels > Facebook Food Ordering.

    3. Click Connect Facebook account to log in to Facebook.

    4. Check your Facebook notification and click Finish to approve connection.

    5. Click Continue on the following screen to grant permission to connect your Square account with Facebook.

    6. Choose the Facebook and/or Instagram profile you’d like to connect to Square and follow the prompts to link your account.

    7. Optionally click Create Ad to choose your ad account and run ads on the social platforms.

    8. Click Done.

    New accounts may take a few days before being able to connect with Facebook. If there are other issues with your Facebook or Instagram business profiles, search for answers or request support in the Meta Business Help Centre.

    If you need to change the Facebook account you selected, you’ll need to disconnect and reconnect again.

    Step 2: Install the Facebook Pixel

    1. Go to Facebook Pixel.

    2. Click Get Started and follow the instructions.

    If you need assistance with Facebook Pixel, contact the Facebook support team or visit the Facebook Business Centre for more information on troubleshooting.

    Step 3: Manage ‘Order Food’ buttons on your profiles

    By linking your Facebook and Instagram profiles to Square, ‘Order Food’ buttons will be automatically added to your profiles. To manage or remove these buttons:

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Online > Websites (or Online store).

    2. Click Sales Channels > Facebook Food Ordering.

    3. Click Manage buttons.

    Disconnect your Facebook account

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Online > Websites (or Online store).

    2. Click Sales Channels > Facebook Food Ordering.

    3. Click Disconnect account.

    4. Tick the box to confirm and click Disconnect.
