Set up Google free and local product listings
About Google free and local product listings
Google free listings make your item catalog searchable across multiple Google surfaces including Google Search and Google Images. Potential customers can click on listings, which will route them to your website to learn more and buy the item.
Google local product listings allows you to showcase your item and store information to nearby shoppers searching with Google, which can help drive traffic to your physical shop. The local products inventory feed is a list of the items you sell in each store. You can make your Square in-store inventory searchable across multiple Google surfaces, including Google Search, Google Shopping, Google Maps, Google Lens, Google Assistant, and Google Images.
Before you begin
You can set up Google listings from Square Dashboard. Before you set up Google listings, you need to complete the following:
Ensure your business and items meet Google’s shopping policies and product listing policies.
-
Create and publish a website with Square. Learn how to set up your website. Then:
Add your contact information to your site by adding a Contact Us page. Learn how to create pages and navigation for your website.
Use "Contact us" or "Contact information" as the title and header of the new page.
Display two of the following pieces of information on your "Contact us" page: email address, phone number, physical address, link to your business profile on social media, and/or a "Contact us" form. Learn how to add contact forms to your website.
Display a return and refund policy: You can set up a return policy from your website checkout settings. Learn how to manage checkout options for your website. Once set up, the return policy is visible on every item page. “No returns/refunds" qualifies as a return policy. Learn how to use Google channel listings, or view the full requirements for Google Listings to better understand the review process and policy for this feature.
While you must have a website to set up Google listings, a Square Websites account is not required for your items to appear in Google local search results since this integration is aimed at driving traffic to your physical locations. If you have an existing Square Websites account with listings, buyers can click on your listings which will route them to the item description page on your website. Integrating your website with Google Local Product Listings is free.
Once you have completed the initial setup, all items will be uploaded to Google automatically. If you make any changes, the changes will automatically get pushed to Google and the item will go back into pending. Google will review the items and will either approve or reject them within 3-5 days. While Google is reviewing your items, the items will remain in a pending state.
