Manage your Square Kiosk software subscription

    Square Kiosk software is the Square Kiosk app, used with your self-service ordering Square Kiosk hardware. The Square Kiosk app keeps your front of house and back of house in sync with instant menu updates and real-time sales data. No third-party software needed.

    Before you begin 

    Your Square Kiosk software subscription activates when you set up and sign in to the Square Kiosk app for the first time. Each active kiosk device counts toward the subscription. Learn more about Square Kiosk as an overall solution and how to set up Square Kiosk.

    You can do the following from Square Dashboard:

    • Add new kiosk devices to your subscription

    • View your subscription

    • Pause your subscription

    • Change your subscription plan

    • Unsubscribe

    • Remove individual kiosk devices from your subscription

    Add new kiosk devices to your Square Kiosk subscription

    New kiosk devices can be added for an additional monthly fee per device. You’ll be prompted to review and confirm your updated monthly cost.
    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Device Management > Kiosk.

    2. Click Add a Kiosk device.

    3. Enter the number of device codes you want to create and click Next.

    4. Select the location where this kiosk device is used and click Next, if applicable.

    5. Select a Kiosk profile to match the settings and click Next, or click Not now to skip this step and add a Kiosk profile later.

      • You can also adjust Local settings for kiosk devices individually without using Kiosk profiles.

    6. Enter the device code name and click Create. If applicable, set an owner passcode and click Next.

    7. Follow the steps to sign in on your device using the device code listed.

    8. Click Copy to copy your device code. Click Send to share your device code by email or phone number.

    9. Click Done.

    If the new device code is not used within 48 hours, the device code will expire and you’ll need to reset it to sign in to the Square Kiosk app. Learn how to set up device codes.

    View your Square Kiosk subscription

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing and subscriptions.

    2. If applicable, select your location from the drop-down menu.

    3. Under Subscriptions, you can view individual subscription details, such as the remaining days in a trial or the total cost of your plan and number of active kiosk devices.

    Pause your Square Kiosk subscription

    You can temporarily pause your Square Kiosk subscriptions for up to three months. Pausing temporarily removes your access to the Square Kiosk app at the end of the current billing period. Your subscription automatically resumes after the pause ends.

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing and subscriptions.

    2. If applicable, select your location from the drop-down menu.

    3. Under Subscriptions, click Manage next to Square Kiosk.

    4. Click Pause Subscription.

    Change your Square Kiosk subscription plan

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing and subscriptions.

    2. If applicable, select your location from the drop-down menu.

    3. Under Subscriptions, click Manage next to Square Kiosk.

    4. Choose a different plan and follow the prompts to upgrade or downgrade.

    Cancel your Square Kiosk subscription

    Cancelling your Square Kiosk subscription will remove the total subscription cost for all kiosk devices and you will lose access to the Square Kiosk app at the end of the current billing period.

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing and subscriptions.

    2. If applicable, select your location from the drop-down menu.

    3. Under Subscriptions, click Manage next to Square Kiosk.

    4. Click Unsubscribe.

    Remove individual kiosk devices from your Square Kiosk subscription

    Removing individual kiosk devices will remove the per month device cost from your Square Kiosk subscription and you will lose access to the Square Kiosk app on the kiosk device at the end of the current billing period.

    Step 1: Deactivate the Square Kiosk app from your kiosk device

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Pricing & subscriptions.
    2. If applicable, select your location from the drop-down menu.
    3. Under Subscriptions, click View devices next to Square Kiosk.
    4. Select a kiosk device.
    5. Under Applications used, click Deactivate next to Square Kiosk.
    6. Click Stop using on device.

    Step 2: Delete the device code for your kiosk device

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Device management > Device codes.
    2. Click ••• next to the kiosk device code that you removed from your subscription.
    3. Click Delete.

    Step 3: Forget your kiosk device

    Forget your kiosk device if you only use the device to run the Square Kiosk app for self-service and you do not plan to continue using it for your point of sale.

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Device management > Devices.
    2. Click ••• next to the kiosk device or select the kiosk device and click Actions.
    3. Click Forget > Forget device.
